Just a quick blog about Ada's first birthday. She started out on the news in Omaha and Kearney (Ivy was so excited to see her on TV, she looked at me like 'what is going on?!' Then it was off to daycare with her birthday cupcakes and home for dinner with grandma & grandpa, presents and more cupcakes. She destroyed her cupcake and ate the entire thing.
Developmentally Ada's been teething constantly for several months now. She has her bottom two front teeth, then the top right front, and the one to the right of that one. I can also see her top left front tooth poking its way through. We will be thankful when they're in and will hopefully get a little break between teeth. She's been standing alone here and there, and taking steps, but she's not walking just yet...anytime now...
Ivy and Ada had a blast on Halloween this year! Ivy dressed up like a kitty and Ada was a little white mouse. Eric was hunting in Plainview over the weekend and was really bummed that he missed out on the festivities. I took the girls and Kermit over to grandma Margie's for a Halloween slumber party. I took Ada around in the stroller while Ivy went up to the doors for candy. I think her favorite part might have been ringing the doorbells, since she rang it even when the people were already standing at the door. We walked around for over an hour, then she said she was getting pretty tired and she just wanted to sit in a driveway for a while to rest. After that, she got up and said she wanted to go back to grandma's house. Here are some pictures of the night.
Ada took about 2 steps on her own last night, and we all got to see it. She had the cutest expression of accomplishment on her face. She basically stepped from one side of our sectional to another. I hope to get a picture or video to post on the blog soon.
in other Ada news, I took her to the ER last night because she woke up with a fever and a cough, which I normally wouldn't have been so worried about. But she was breathing pretty rapidly so I called her doctor on call and he recommended taking her to the ER to make sure there was nothing going on with her lungs. When we got to the ER her breathing had slowed a bit and they said her lungs sounded good. Ada was 22 lbs 9 oz when they weighed her. She stayed home with grandma Margie today for some TLC...
We celebrated the girls' 3rd and 1st birthdays at Lost in Fun today! We had pizza, cake and ice cream and had a lot of fun watching the kids run around like chickens with their heads cut off (except for Ada of course). My sister's family and most of Eric's family came from Kearney, along with my parents and brother in Lincoln. We opened presents and the girls' made a killing, lot of new toys to fight over...
Well for starters, i designed a new website for my blog. It's hard to get motivated to work on your own website when you spend a lot of time doing websites for other people. I guess you could compare it to the handyman that doesn't want to come home and fix problems with his own house. Anyway, I think this site looks a lot nicer and hopefully you all like it too.
In other news, we bought a new house, and closed on it on October 14th...so we're no longer homeless. We actually have been living there since September 20th because the builder was kind enough to let us rent it for a few weeks.
The girls' have a new daycare that's a block away from our new house, so that rocks! They really like it there, lots of kids their own age to play with. On Wednesdays the "Cartwheel Bus" comes over and they do gymnastics and other fun stuff in an old tricked out school bus. Here are a couple new pictures of the girls & new house...
it's hard to believe, but my baby girl is three years old today! In some ways it makes me sad because I miss her as a baby, but I'm happy when I think about our friendship now. She's so fun to talk to and pretend play with, I love the stuff she picks up on. She's started having pretend conversations on the phone where she'll talk and ask questions and then answer pretend questions from whoever's on the line. We got her a princess 'tent', for lack of a better word, that she likes to hide in with Ada or her babies.
For those of you that don't know yet, we've sold our house in Kearney and are moving to Lincoln this month. We start new jobs in a couple weeks so we're busily trying to pack, find a new house, new daycare, and all the other stuff that goes along with moving to a new city. Wish us luck as we start a new chapter in our lives...
Ada got her first two teeth this week! She didn't want to waste time getting them separately I guess. They are the front bottom teeth and they are so adorable! I hope to get pictures off my camera soon so I can post one of them.
Ivy has said a few things about the moon lately that I thought were pretty cute. We were sitting outside watching the sky because there were some dark clouds. She noticed a group of low white clouds moving across the sky pretty quickly and said 'where're those clouds going?' I said they were just flying away. She said 'They're going to see the moon'...I thought that was adorable. Then Eric said they were driving somewhere and she noticed a full moon and said something like 'There's the moon, it's not broken anymore'. She just loves the moon and anything in the sky.
Ada had her 9 month well-baby checkup today (even though she hasn't been a well baby this week). She woke up with a low-grade fever on Monday morning and hasn't been able to kick it until tonight. The doctor said she probably just has a viral infection because he didn't see anything on the exam that would make him think otherwise. She weighed in at 22 pounds, 6 ounces so she's still in the 95th percentile for weight. She was 28.5 inches so 75th percentile for height and head.
She's still such a joy to be around, always happy, loves to laugh. Her favorite thing to do now that she's mobile is climb under the coffee table or end tables and just play under there. I'm not sure what the allure is, maybe she feels like it's her own little fort. She's starting to eat more table food, and likes to feed herself. She still doesn't have any teeth, but I think she's working on the bottom two front teeth. That's all for now...
