Believe it or not, the Beavers pulled off a championship in the tournament this year. We ended the season with a record of 2-3 so we were 4th out of 6 teams. I'm sure no one expected us to even make it to the tournament...
My sister and I saw Juno for the 2nd time
in the theatre tonight...we can't get enough of it. If you
haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.
I ran into another pet peeve during the movie though. Not only do
we have to deal with people answering and talking on their phones
during the movie...but now we have to deal with "the texter" as
well. If you think you're being more respectful because you're
not actually talking, think again. It's probably just as
distractive to have your 100 watt cell phone open for 5 minutes
while you try to find the "o" for "lol".
I should start a "pet peeve page" so you wouldn't have to read my
whining if you didn't want to...
Can I just talk about how much I hate it when people, mostly at work, will put the entire body of an e-mail in the subject line?
Example:
I suppose to someone outside of the office setting, this may seem like something silly to think about. But seriously, let's say you were sending a letter, would you put the phone number on the envelope instead of the address? I apologize...the true geek in me is coming out in this blog...
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, so apparently we
will see 6 more weeks of winter in 2008. I would actually be okay
with 6 weeks, but when, in Nebraska, has winter ended before
mid-April?
Side note: I love the movie with Bill Murray, it just gets funnier
every time I see it...
Like mother like daughter...Ivy seems to be very afraid of the automatic car wash. I remember hiding on the floor of my mom's car when we'd go through the carwash. She gets a scared look on her face when she realizes where we are, and then she sobs and tries to get out of her car seat. I absolutely hated it when I was little, so I feel horrible taking Ivy through it...but I do love a clean car...
Ivy had her 15 month checkup Thursday and everything checked out okay. She's on an antibiotic from ear infections last week and she can't seem to keep them away. Other than that, she's a healthy kid, and seems to be doing everything that 15 month olds do. She's learning to say more words and it's fun that she can communicate a little more than she used to. We're getting plenty sick of this cold weather and can't wait until spring & summer and all the fun things we'll be able to do...
Our basketball team won our season opener 57-55 in overtime tonight! We're hoping to finish above dead last this year...
So Ivy has started saying "hi" to strangers now. It's funny to see people's reactions to her. Sometimes you'll get the friendly lady that oohs and ahhs and says "hi" back...other times you get the embarrassed teenager that doesn't want to look stupid talking to a baby. Either way, we're always amused and we try to get her to say it to us...but she doesn't.
Ivy was on the front page of our newspaper today and we are very excited about it. The hospital sponsored a contest where they picked one kid to be on the front page each day in December. Here is the clip from the newspaper...

I would officially say that Ivy is "walking" now. She still falls down and is unsure of herself sometimes, but she can go from the kitchen to the bedrooms, so that's good enough for me. It's so fun to watch her wobble...
