I wanted to start the year off with a fresh look on the blog. Hopefully I can be better about updating too, but don't hold your breath. :)
This year for Halloween, Ivy was a ladybug and Ada was a bumblebee. We had gorgeous weather too, so we didn't even have to cover up their adorable costumes with coats! They both really enjoyed it this year and weren't shy about saying "trick or treat" at the door and were good about saying thanks for the candy. Ivy also loved to hand candy out to the kids that were still coming around after we got back home.
We had a Tangled themed party at our house for the girls' birthdays this year. Craig was even able to come from California, which was a great surprise. We ate roast beef sandwiches and some other goodies and had a cake with Rapunzel on it, which was delicious. The girls opened a TON of gifts, which included some new Barbies, clothes and some cool accessories to go with their new dollhouse that they got from mom and dad this year. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we got to hang outside too!
We took the kids to Antelope park again this year to take some family pictures. My sister and her family helped us by taking our full family pic, and I took theirs. I think they turned out great and didn't cost a lot, so that was awesome. Here are a few..
I keep meaning to blog about this because we hear it almost every morning and don't want to forget it. Ada is still in her crib, we tried changing it into a toddler bed, but she didn't seem to sleep as well, so we changed it back. When she wakes up, she'll yell at us to get her out of bed. She practically screams "I LAKE UP!". Apparently the W is hard to get out early in the morning. So we'll go in and get her out of bed and the next thing she says...all in one breath.."can-i-have-a-somepin-ta-eat?". It's so adorable that we've all started using the phrase in our daily conversations.
So lately my girls have been obsessed with the Little Mermaid movie and they love the songs from it so we sing a few of them most nights before bed. I'm amazed that both girls can pretty much sing along with this one called Part of Your World (which the girls have coined Ariel Song). Last night I caught Ada singing with my phone and thought I'd share it. I couldn't figure out how to just record her voice, so it's a black video…but you get the gist. She kinda trails off at the end but I thought she did very well for a 2 year old. Also, the lyrics are below the video if you want to follow along, I just assume that everyone already knows every word to this song.
Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see them dancin'
Walking around on those - what do you call 'em?
Oh - feet!
Flippin' your fins, you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down a - what's that word again?
Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free - wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet'cha on land they understand
That they don't reprimand their daughters
Proper women sick of swimmin'
Ready to stand
And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it - what's the word?
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore that world up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world
Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I put something up on this blog! I'm going to go back the last few months and think about things that I should've posted. So you might see 'new' blogs that have old dates. It's been super crazy at work and I haven't had a lot of spare time between work, kids and website design.
Eric and I went up to Omaha last night and met our friends Terry and Joanna for the Mumford & Sons concert at the Stir Cove behind Harrah's casino. Eric had helped Terry put a wood floor in their kitchen so they bought us tickets to the show as a thank you :) We had so much fun, it was an awesome show. Grandma Becky came from Kearney to watch the girls so we could spend the night there. After the show we played some roulette and and enjoyed the company. We took the day off today and got to hang out with the girls. Here's a video from the show..
